Access to justice and older persons

The recent approval of the regional framework for the protection of the human rights of older persons, together with a gradual paradigm that claims the positive role of older persons in society, reveals the need to implement normative and operational changes to avoid all kinds of discrimination against this sector of the population. The context of an aging population and the disruptions generated by the COVID – 19 pandemic, in conjunction with the unlimited possibilities that information technologies offer, provides the opportunity to redouble the search for such changes. The fundamental principle at stake is equality in all its scopes; and its fundamental and last guarantee revolves around the right of access to justice. To that end, this article explores the intersection of the studies around aging and those related to innovation. In addition, this papper offers some examples of innovations that seek to combine the fields of information technologies, innovation, and access to the justice of older persons.
