Author Guidelines

Submissions

Submissions should be sent to the email address: revistaderecho@claeh.edu.uy

Upon receiving the text, a preliminary formal review will be conducted to verify that the document complies with the aspects included in the guidelines for authors. If necessary, suggestions for adjustments will be sent to the author. This will occur prior to peer review, without prejudice to other formal details that may need to be included for the final edition.

The publication guidelines to be observed are detailed below. Authors must comply with the elements described below. Submissions that do not meet these guidelines will be returned to the authors.

1. Originality of Contributions.

Only unpublished works will be published. The language of the journal is Spanish. Exceptionally, works in Portuguese may be published. Works submitted for evaluation and possible publication must be unpublished and not under evaluation by other journals, including electronic editions or similar formats. It is mandatory to attach a supplementary file with the complete originality document, signed by the author(s) and scanned.

2. Receipt of Contributions.

Contributions should be sent to the email address: revistaderecho@claeh.edu.uy

Upon receiving the text, a preliminary formal review will be conducted to verify that the document complies with the aspects included in the guidelines for authors. If necessary, suggestions for adjustments will be sent to the author. 3. Review / Peer Review

The UCLAEH LAW JOURNAL is a venue for original academic contributions and research articles. The review process is conducted anonymously for both authors and reviewers.

Original submissions undergo external evaluation using a double-blind system before publication.

As a requirement for publication, a review by external referees is established, who are distinguished jurists and/or specialists in their field or discipline, both national and international. Once the article is received, a reviewer will be assigned based on their direct connection to the topic addressed by the author and their area of expertise. Upon acceptance of the evaluation by the designated reviewer, they will have a period of 30 days to assess the text. The reviewer’s report must specifically indicate whether the text meets the necessary quality and robustness requirements for publication in the UCLAEH LAW JOURNAL. If any observations are made by the reviewers, these may be conveyed to the author for consideration, evaluation, and, if applicable, adjustments.

The evaluation results may be:

  • Publishable
  • Requires revision by the author
  • Requires revision by the author and re-evaluation
  • Not publishable

The entire evaluation process will be confidential. The review will be anonymous for both the reviewer and the author. In no case will the author be informed of who conducted their external evaluation. The list of reviewers will also remain anonymous.

Texts that have been explicitly requested from the author as a reference or specialist may be included in the publication without undergoing the external review process. These cases will be exceptional.

The UCLAEH LAW JOURNAL reserves the right to accept or reject submissions in accordance with the thematic scope and strict adherence to editorial guidelines.

4. Identification and Formal Details for Authors

The UCLAEH LAW JOURNAL is an open access publication, therefore authors are requested to accompany their submissions with a statement that expresses: “Original material authorized for its first publication in the UCLAEH LAW JOURNAL", as the rights to the published material for subsequent editions remain with the author.

Submissions should be sent to the following email address: revistaderecho@claeh.edu.uy

In accordance with academic editing guidelines, contributions are subject to anti-plagiarism checks (Crossref).

All authors are encouraged to provide their ORCID number.

What is it ORCID?

The acronym Open Researcher and Contributor (https://orcid.org) is a non-commercial alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies scientists and other academic authors. It is a very important requirement that has benefits for both the author and the journal.

Authors must identify themselves with their full name as they wish to be indexed, academic degrees and/or professional title, and professional field. Additionally, they must provide an email address that will be included at the foot of the mention.

If authorship involves multiple authors, they must specify in a note at the end of the document the contribution or role each author had in the research.

5. Submission of Originals

Articles in Spanish and, exceptionally, in Portuguese will be accepted. For any other language, authors will be responsible for providing a translated version in one of these two languages.

Articles must be unpublished and contain between 4,000 and 6,000 words, including bibliographic notes according to the attached rules. A maximum of 9,000 words may be authorized upon explicit request from the author.

The title of the article must not exceed 15 words, including any subtitle if applicable.

Articles must be accompanied by an abstract of up to 200 words and up to five keywords. Both the abstract and keywords must be submitted in the language of the main text, in English, and in Portuguese.

Submissions must be written in double spacing, in A4 format, with a font size of 12 for the main text and 10 for references. Font: CALIBRI.

All images must be accompanied by precise and sufficient source information. For third-party images, the UCLAEH LAW JOURNAL assumes that the author has requested and received the necessary reproduction permissions and is not responsible for unauthorized use or the legal consequences of intellectual property rights infringement.

Figures, drawings, photos, tables, diagrams, maps, etc., must be numbered sequentially; they will be considered figures and inserted in the body of the text, close to their first mention. The graphic documentation will be provided with the text contents, of sufficient quality, and organized clearly.

Images included in the articles should have a maximum size of 700 x 1100 pixels and a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. Figures and images should be submitted in jpg, png, eps, or tiff format. Drawings of materials, plans, etc., must have a minimum resolution of 600 dpi. Tables and graphs should always be provided in EXCEL format (or other compatible software). All images, tables, and graphs should be included in the text (in an appropriate place, following the paragraph where mentioned and properly numbered and titled); however, they should also be sent as an attached supplementary file.

Considering international recommendations on equality and non-discrimination, it is requested that submitted works use non-sexist language, avoiding systematic use of the masculine form, singular or plural, as generic, employing collective names, abstract terms, periphrasis, impersonal forms, etc.

The UCLAEH LAW JOURNAL receives other contributions that are not subject to peer review:

Textual references of fewer than 40 words should be included in quotation marks (without italics) in the text. If they exceed that length, they should appear in a separate paragraph, indented by 2 cm, and in normal text.

Moderation in the use of uppercase letters is encouraged. In both titles and subtitles, as well as in bibliographic references, uppercase letters should be used according to orthographic rules (i.e., basically in proper names and after periods). Writing in all uppercase letters should be limited to acronyms and Roman numerals.
