About the Journal
Aim and Scope
The UCLAEH LAW JOURNAL, published by the Faculty of Law of the Latin American Center for Human Economy (CLAEH) since 1958 (CLAEH University since 2017), is a digital journal and is the first legal journal of the institution open to the entire academic community in Uruguay and abroad.
With open and universal access, its mission is to disseminate legal sciences from an interdisciplinary approach that allows for the integration of perspectives focusing on the promotion of human rights, fundamental freedoms, and both generic and specific guarantees within the framework of the Rule of Law and its governing principles stemming from dual legal protection.
The journal aims to showcase innovative and original studies and research, maintaining a constant dialogue with the community to establish academic networks for national, regional, and international circulation, encouraging exchange with editorial centers, academics, specialists, and other actors in scientific knowledge.
At its core, the publication promotes the study and analysis of law as a discipline, emphasizing the recognition of rights and freedoms through an analysis grounded in the promotion of democratic, pluralistic, critical, and constructive living knowledge.
The UCLAEH LAW JOURNAL welcomes the publication of research articles, original essays, critical contributions, book reviews, interviews, and other submissions from professionals, academics, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as doctoral candidates in the field of legal sciences.
It includes the following sections:
- Doctrine
- Commented Jurisprudence
- Commented Legislation
- Student Contributions
- Additionally, it may incorporate materials in a section titled:
Critique and Review, which may include:
- Book reviews
- Bibliographic essays
- Event reviews
- Archive reviews
- Documentary repositories with specifications outlined in the Journal Guidelines.
Frequency
Starting in 2026, Revista de Derecho will be published under a continuous publication model, with an annual volume.
Articles are published individually throughout the year, immediately after completing the peer review and editing process.
The full volume is finalized and published on November 15 of the current year.

Publication History
The UCLAEH LAW JOURNAL was first published in 2022 as an initiative to build legal thought aimed at strengthening and supporting institutional development in this area, which has evolved through the continuous efforts of the UCLAEH scientific community.
In a constant process of improvement, starting in 2024, the journal is presented in a new OJS format as a digital journal, with a printed edition available for those who request it, adhering to the norms for scientific publications.
