Bases for monitoring and evaluation in Paraguay from a results-based budget perspective

Abstract

In recent years, the relationship between good governance and better economic and social results has been increasingly recognized. Transparency, public policy design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, are key elements of good governance. In this sense, the national budget is the most important document for any government since it embodies the objectives and instruments of public policies in a very concrete way. The aim of this article is to present the experience and the steps taken by the Paraguayan government in budgetary matters, from the budget monitoring and evaluation perspective.
