Abstract

Culture as a common asset, when used properly in the local scene, strategically contributes to sustainable human development. However, its partial or total absence in planning is a repeatedly upheld fact in the Cuban municipal sphere, and the cause of an insufficient use of this resource. To transform this situation, the process of strengthening local actors’ capacities to integrate the cultural dimension is required. Actions in such a sense are not always effective to capitalize the whole cultural potential of the territory. The article aims to bring readers closer to the subject, based on fundamental theoretical references to approach it, presenting partial results of the study of an experience of local development from a cultural perspective in three Cuban municipalities.
